Dr Karen Cooper
Dr Karen Cooper is an Educational and Child Psychologist with 15 years of experience of working within the healthcare and education sector, both in the UK and New Zealand. Karen completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Lancaster University in 2001, before going on to complete a Masters in Education at the University of East Anglia and a Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology at University College London. She has also completed a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Paediatric Neuropsychology at University College London and is currently studying at Bristol University, working towards qualifying as a Clinical Paediatric Neuropsychologist.
Karen has been a member of a complex neurodisability team within the NHS for the past 5 years. She has extensive experience of completing assessments and outlining comprehensive intervention programmes for children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic and acquired brain injury and associated mood disorders. She has also worked extensively as an Educational Psychologist within in local authority and educational settings (including primary, secondary and specialist schools). She additionally lived in New Zealand for five years where she worked as an Educational Psychologist for the Behaviour Service within Ministry of Education. Whilst in New Zealand she also worked for a government funded programme completing neuropsychological assessments and providing therapeutic support for children and young people who had experienced a traumatic brain injury.
Karen is experienced in providing training in school settings and as well as offering group and individual therapeutic or psychoeducational support with parents, young people and children.
